INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE STUDENT PROGRAM

The Bossier Parish School Board recognizes the educational and cultural value of international exchange programs and students and authorizes the admission of a limited number of students from district-approved programs.

Sponsoring organizations must seek approval each year.  School District approval is granted when all program requirements and deadlines are met.  Correspondence and contacts from sponsoring organizations and area representatives concerning the placement of students must be directed to the district contact person and not the school.  Final approval of sponsoring organizations and students is the responsibility of the district’s designated contact person.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS/DEADLINES

  1. The sponsoring organization must be accepted for listing in the Council on Standards for International Education Travel (CSIET) Advisory List for the year prior to the placement year.

  2. The sponsoring organization must be designated by the United States Information Agency (USIA) as a J-1 Exchange Visitor Program.

  3. By February 15th, the District will send all documents necessary for participation to organizations on the CSIET Advisory List, inviting them to participate.

  4. Any organization that has not received participation information and wants to participate can request a packet by contacting the high school curriculum supervisor.

  5. All assurances by the organization (forms contained in the participation packet) must be signed and submitted to the high school curriculum supervisor by April 15th.  No applications will be accepted without the submission of assurances.

  6. Student applications and all necessary documents will be reviewed and placement decision made by the high school curriculum supervisor up until June 20th.  No placements will be made after that day.
